Arizonans Want Their Leaders to Attract Amazon’s HQ2

Only 14% oppose Arizona leaders aggressively pursuing

Phoenix, AZ (September 12, 2017) –  Arizona is just over 100 years old, and iconic for being the heart and soul of the wild west era. In business, Arizona makes a compelling case that it is still the wild west for opportunity given our low cost of living, 5th place rank in population growth, business-friendly environment and a Governor that has made job growth his number one priority. Last week that Seattle-based retail  giant Amazon caused a buzz across the United States when it announced it was floating a RFP nationally to build a second headquarters, HQ2, which could bring 50,000 jobs and $5 billion investment to a new urban site in North America. The question is, would Arizona citizens want it?

Participating in this online survey conducted from September 8 – 10th, 2017 were 1,149 respondents with the sample reflecting the general population across Arizona, based on U.S. Census numbers. Among the results:

“By more than a three to one ratio Arizonans want their leaders to aggressively pursue landing Amazon’s HQ2,” said Mike Noble, managing partner and chief pollster at OH Predictive Insights, a Phoenix-based leading behavioral research company.

“Interestingly, both men and women were strongly favorable to a pro-government solution to allure Amazon to the Valley.  The large percentage of Not Sure/Don’t Know suggests we need to be smart about our RFP, but I think the high Yes:No ratio speaks to the need for GPEC, ACA, and our elected officials to make a compelling argument to Amazon,” says Brad Casper, Executive Chairman of OH Partners.  OH Partners is a Phoenix-based advertising agency with a number of clients in real estate, homebuilding and master plan community development.

Methodology: This online survey was completed by OH Predictive Insights from September 8th to September 10th, 2017, from a U.S. Census based Arizona general population sample. The sample size was 1,149 completed surveys, with a MoE of ± 2.89%
