Higher Income Parents Among the Happiest in the Grand Canyon State
PHOENIX (July 27th, 2021)- In our May AZPOP, OH Predictive Insights began tracking the happiness of Arizonans, and the results of our July Arizona Public Opinion Pulse (AZPOP) shows that the attitude of State 48 residents has remained positive, with 71% of respondents saying they are happy these days.
According to the survey, 43% of respondents are happier than they were 6 months ago, and 52% say they anticipate being even happier in 6 months from now.
This AZPOP, administered by OH Predictive Insights, was conducted from July 6 – July 11 and surveyed 1,000 general population Arizonans (18+ YO) with a margin of error of ± 3.1%.
Expectations for future happiness were found to be more optimistic among younger people than older respondents. Fifty-nine percent of 18-54-year-olds expect to be happier six months from now than they are today. Only 41% of those aged 55+ agree.
In the Grand Canyon State, respondents with higher incomes reported higher levels of happiness. Eighty-six percent of people making $100k or more are happy, while only 61% of people making less than $50k say the same.
Parents – especially fathers of young children – are also happier than people without children. Seventy-eight percent of men with minor children and 74% of men with adult children are very or somewhat happy, while 64% of men without children said the same. Among women, 68% with minor children and 77% with adult children said they are happy, while 66% of women without children reported being happy.
“Maybe money can buy happiness for Arizonans,” said Jacob Joss, OHPI Data Analyst. “The data shows that Arizonans with children and a high income level are the happiest among us, telling us that financial security and a family dynamic fuel the happiness of Grand Canyon State Residents.”
